We build strong minds, bodies, character and communities through cycling.
Who we are
Little Rock Student Mountain Bike (LRSMTB) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that develops young people through cycling. Our goal is to inspire and equip the future leaders of our community.
We do that by supporting four student mountain bike teams in Little Rock: the Capital City Cranks (CCC), Catholic High School (CHS), Little Rock Central High School (LRC), and Mount St. Mary Academy (MSM). LRSMTB develops their coaches, runs their shared practices, and funds the season through sponsors and donors.
The CCC is a composite team for riders in grades 5–12 from any school in the Little Rock area. CHS, LRC, and MSM riders attend those schools, grades 9–12. Many start as Cranks in grades 5–8.
The teams compete in the Arkansas NICA League. NICA is one way we pursue the mission, not the mission itself. Racing is part of the experience; developing capable young people is the purpose. 2026 is the program's 10th season: 65 registered riders and 46 coaches as of September 27, 2026.
At the end of the day, we are ONE big happy family!
Mountain biking is our vehicle for youth development. Here is what our student-athletes do each season.
Licensed NICA coaches run practices three times a week during the season. Riders train in coached ride groups.
Student-athletes race the Arkansas Interscholastic Cycling League series, from the August Time Trial to the State Championship.
Girls Riding Together grows the number of girls and women coaches on bikes through girls-only rides and events.
Riders serve the trails they ride through Teen Trail Corps workdays with local trail partners.
Students in grades 5–12 anywhere in the Little Rock area can ride with the Capital City Cranks. Catholic High, Central, and Mount St. Mary students ride for their school team.
Sponsors develop coaches, create leadership opportunities for student-athletes, and support trail service.
